German Shepard Rescue

German Shepard Rescue

The first step in adopting a German Shepard from a rescue is to complete an adoption application for German Shepard Rescue. Once the adoption applicaion is submitted, a volunteer will contact your veterinarian reference to verify that all the information provided about your pet history and that your pets are current and up to day on vaccines, heartworm preventative and spayed/neutered if applicable. A volunteer will then contact you to schedule a time to discuss your application as a way of getting to know you better. All applicants are screened to be sure they are a good candidate to adopt a German Shepard and that the German Shepard Rescue makes sense for you and the dog, a home visit will be scheduled. This shouldn't be stressful, this is routine and intended to make sure you have and can provide a safe environment for one of our dogs.

After the home visit a decision will be made and someone will let you know that you have been approved to adopt and we will help find the perfect German Shepard Rescue dog for you and your family.

The volunteer handling your application will put you in contact with the foster home to talk and possibly visit with the dog if you both think it’s a good match. The decision of who adopts each German Shepard included input from the foster family since they know the German Shepard best and have a good understanding for what home the dog will fit in best. We do not have the philosophy of “first come first serve”, we are looking for a great/perfect match since these have already been through trauma and we would like this to be their forever home.
